Computer training centre is on anvil to rehabilitate ex-servicemen, India

The Hindu

Department of Sainik Welfare has planned to open a computer centre to train ex-servicemen at Thrissur district in Kerala, India.

It was felt that making ex-servicemen, especially those under the age of 45, computer-literate, as an important step towards rehabilitation. Of the 1.46 lakh ex-servicemen in the state, 11,842 are from Thrissur. They include world war veterans, retired short-service commissioned officers and personnel who opted for retirement after fifteen years of service. The Department of Sainik Welfare plans to associate with national agencies in this regard. Qualified teachers from these agencies would handle the classes. Basic courses such as MS Office are on offer to start with. The total fee for each course is Rs.100. The basic qualification of the candidates should be SSLC.

Should defence training be made compulsory in India ?

Should defence training be made compulsory in India ?
Yes, defence training is compulsory for all the citizens in certain countries. This not only tone up the youth but also trains them to defend the country in case of emergencies. This would also help citizens of India to defend themselves and country from Terrorist activities. I suggest that defence training be made compulsory to all the youths soon after college. I solicit members opinion on this subject.

Facility management is a profession that encompasses multiple disciplines to ensure functionality of the built environment by integrating people, place, process and technology.

Facilities can be generally defined as buildings, properties and major infrastructure, also referred to within the Facility Management industry as the “built environment”. The primary function of Facility Management (FM) is to manage and maintain the efficient operation of this “built environment”.
The industry is also responsible for:
• ensuring that services are delivered in a way that contributes to the productivity and profitability of those people who utilize a facility;
• reducing the impact of the use of facilities on the environment;
• minimising operational life cycle costs of facilities;
• repairs and maintenance, security and cleaning as well as more highly technical services required for the efficient operation of a facility.
BIFM
Facilities management is the integration of processes within an organisation to maintain and develop the agreed services which support and improve the effectiveness of its primary activities
